In honor of my good friend Jennie and her 23rd birthday yesterday, I decided to make her some mini kiss pies using Andes mints or Hershey's hugs and wrapping them up in pie crust to bake. Unfortunately, they did not turn out as I had expected =(. Their crust was a bit too thick and they were not as sweet as I imagined. I decided not to bake the rest of the ingredients and save them for something else. It's always frustrating when I spend money on ingredients and my recipes do not turn out as I plan. So I thought... what is a girl to do with a big bag of leftover Hershey's hugs?? Hmm... make puppy chow of course!

I'm sure most of you know how to make puppy chow, but for the first-timers (like my Australian co-worker, Adele) here is the recipe. Since the little hugs remind me of zebras, I decided to call this
Zebra Chow.
Ingredients:
1 Bag Hershey's Hugs
1 Tbsp Margarine
1/2 Box Rice Chex Cereal
1-2 Tbsp Peanut Butter
1/2 Cup Powdered Sugar
Directions:
1. Unwrap the Hershey's Hugs from the wrappers and place them in a stove-top pot along with the margarine and peanut butter
2. Set the stove on low-medium heat to melt the chocolate while constantly stirring
3. When the hugs have melted, pour the rice chex cereal in the pan and continue to stir making sure all of the cereal is coated in chocolate
4. Once the chocolate is evenly distributed over the cereal, either pour the mixture into a large bag or bowl of powdered sugar
5. Shake all of the ingredients together until the powder is coating the cereal and make sure all the clumps are broken up
6. Pour your zebra chow into a bowl and enjoy the most addicting treat!
Have a great weekend!
